GCSE Media Studies - Production Coursework
A short animation produced for my GCSE media studies production coursework. We had to go through the different stages of production: research, planning, production and then evaluation.
The aim of the video is to inspire young children to eat more healthily and have fun whilst doing it.

How I Made The Video:
For research I did a survey, and then annotated different characters from children's animations because I'd chosen children as my target audience. Planning then involved making a storyboard that would give me a brief outline of what I'd do in my animation.
The production stage was the longest and most difficult. To make my stop motion I used my Nikon D40 dslr camera along with the ml-l3 remote shutter release. I set up a small scene in my garage as my set. Working in my garage allowed me to have controlled light conditions (no windows) and it's barely used, so there's little chance of someone coming in and knocking the whole thing over or moving anything. This is particularly important when making a stop motion, because everything has to be so precise and accurate!
After I'd taken around 1,000 images for the animation I had to edit it into a short film. I use a Mac Mini. I copied the images to my mac before opening them all in iMovie 09 and in "project properties" I set the photo duration to the lowest possible. I then exported the movie before opening it in iMovie HD for final post processing. I had some shadows in images (eg. the floating grape and banana car) so I used Photoshop to edit these out with the clone stamp tool.
The evaluation stage was basically an essay summing up what I did in detail, using images and examples from my work.
that is the best stop motion vid i have ever seen! how did u make the grape fly like that when the thing kicked it? (i can't see strings of any thing) plz reply. thx in advance

@15bugdes Haha, thanks :) I used strings when taking the shots and then I went through later and cloned them out of each individual still in Photoshop.

Good job! I love doing my own stop-motions, but I can't get them on youtube, so I need my own Digital camera! Anyways, I loved the video and it was a very awesome animation, being fun yet encouraging to little kids. Overall it was one of the best stop-motions I've seen yet!
