De tal razón, hizo un milagro la Virgen Santa María, en favor de un gran mercader que quería ir a Acre, con su nave cargada de muy buenas mercancías, pero que, antes de llegar allí, recibió muchos pesares, porque tuvo una gran tormenta en que se quebró el mástil y se rompió toda la vela, y él se vio tan angustiado, que prometió que, si arribaba vivo al puerto, iría como romero a Salas y a sus santos lugares una noche, dando una ofrenda buena y hermosa.
Y después que hubo prometido esto, muy luego, la Virgen gloriosa le valió con su merced y no le fue demorada, porque hizo ponto aquietarse la tormenta, sin otras dilaciones.
La tormenta fue aquietada, y compusieron el mástil y tuvieron tan buen viento, que a la mañana llegaron a Acre, y perdieron el miedo y todos los malos recelos que antes tenían, de morir, y vendieron cuantas mercancías traían, muy bien y en pocos días.
Después retornaron a su tierra, e hicieron romerías al Puy y después a Salas, con loores y cantares.
Una cruz, toda de cristal, dio luego allí, en ofrenda, el mercader a quien la Virgen había guiado bien, sin vacilaciones, con su haber al puerto y se puso bajo su protección.
Y de esto el cantar hicimos para que lo cantasen los juglares.
