A brief Synopsis:
Jogjakarta 1867 -1912
On his return from Mecca, young Dervish (Ihsan Taroreh) changed his name to Ahmad Dahlan (Lukman Sardi). He agitated for the implementation of Islamic law that deviated toward heresy (Bid'ah). Through Ahmad Dahlan's mosque began the movement to change the direction of Qiblahthat was wrong in the Great Mosque Kauman and resulting in a kyai's anger. Kyai Penghulu Kamaludiningrat (Slamet Rahardjo) anger led to the demolition of Dahlan's mosque as it was considered a heresy. Ahmad Dahlan was also accused of religious scholars in Pagan just because he opened a school that places students sit in a chair like a modern Dutch school.

Ahmad Dahlan was also accused as kyai Javanist just because he has a close relationship with Javanese intellectual teacher in Budi Utomo. But those allegations do not make the Kauman youth surrendered. With the company of his beloved wife, Siti Walidah (Zaskia Adya Mecca) and five faithful disciples: Sudja (Giring Nidji), Sangidu (Ricky Perdana), Fahrudin (Mario Irwinsyah), Hisham (Dennis Adishwara) and Dirjo (Abdurrahman Arif), Ahmad Dahlan built Muhammadiyah organization with the purpose of educating Muslims for forward-thinking in accordance with the time changes and development.

- is this movie only for Muslim?
This movie tells us the struggles experienced by Ahmad Dahlan in building a revolutionary organisation in a traditional society. This movie could be enjoyed by EVERYONE because (1). it gives info about the cultural history of Islam and Indonesia, (2). it tells the value and the spirit needed to make a change in the society.

- Is it expensive?
The ticket price is already a lot cheaper than normal ticket fee in the cinema (please check the event cinemas website for weekend ticket).
In addition to cheaper ticket price, the director (Hanung Bramandtyo) will come and have a discussion with the audience.

- Is anyone coming from Indonesia?
