Art Adventures: Maker Faire

Chronicle art director Hulda Nelson checked out the Maker Faire last weekend and brought back this report:
The Maker Faire has propellers spinning on more heads every year. Part middle school science fair on steriods, part Burning Man Lite, all about better living through science, this year's model was a (literal) blast for kids of all ages.
I talked to some of the artists, inventors and people just plain hell-bent on saving the world at the annual nerd-fest at San Mateo County Fairgrounds last weekend. If you can't wait for next year's faire, slap a Space Cadet on your Prius and head for the Lone Star State next fall for the Austin Maker Faire, Oct. 20 & 21, 2007, Travis County Fairgrounds.
