Debra Medina is interviewed by Judge Napolitano. The Judge is obviously impressed with her and knows she's the obvious choice for Texas, and Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison need to GO HOME. They discuss restoring sovereignty, fighting against an overreaching federal government, nullification, etc.

  • Replacing property taxes with higher sales and consuption taxes is defeating the purpose. Anyone that owns or rents property pays taxes either directly or through higher rent. The government has to have a certain amount of revenue to operate. What needs to be done, is to cut operating expences, not move taxes around. That's rediculous. And it makes me question Medina's ability to understand true conservatism.

  • She's not replacing property taxes with "higher" sales taxes. She's broadening the base of the current sales tax. Other states already tax more things than we do. And yes, she of course wants to cut the size of government, which will at the same time cut operating expenses.

  • Damn, I wish she had won.

  • @maciindrew

Care to give an example how?

  • Please run for Pres Judge. You are one heck of a patriotic

  • @hrdman2luv - if you want to truly 'own' your property you must do away with property tax. if not you will always be at a risk of losing your propert for not paying your rent, i mean tax.

  • Texans proved they deserve neither 'Freedom' nor 'Liberty' by ignoring Medina and electing Statist Bureaucrat Rick Perry. So, Texas just showed it is ALL MOUTH and NO ACTION!

  • Go Judge Napolitano! Thank you for defending the constitution!

  • one problem with Debra's view: Republicans only became small government people in advocacy of big business in the 1920s and 30s. Their orgins were in the Whig party. Whigs collapsed and essentially renamed labeled itself Republican. Their first act in Federal power was the unconstitutional invasion of seven Sovereign States and subject them to rule of an oppressive, confiscatory, despotic centralized power. Otherwise, GO DEBRA!
