This event is a spectacular! An exciting line-up of three established poets as readers and in conversation with Dr Robyn Rowland.
This is a free event. Refreshments served prior to commencement of event and at intermission.




Dr Robyn Rowland, AO presents local, national and international visiting poets in the Poetry and Conversation series. The readings and discussions will involve conversations with the audience. Robyn was Deputy Chair of the Foundation Board of the Australian Poetry Centre and has established and curated the Poetry Salons at Glenfern. She has been a published poet for 40 years and her latest book of poetry is Seasons of doubt and burning: New and Selected Poems (Five Islands Press, 2010)




Jennifer Strauss has four collections of poetry: Children and Other Strangers, Winter Driving, Labour Ward, and Tierra del Fuego: New and Selected Poems. Her poems have appeared in anthologies, and she has edited the anthologies The Oxford Book of Australian Love Poems and Family Ties: Australian Poems of the Family as well as a two-volume scholarly edition of The Collected Verse of Mary Gilmore and been co-editor of The Oxford Literary History of Australia. She was awarded an AM in the Order of Australia for service in the field of Australian literature and poetry.




John Jenkins has written, co-written or edited 23 books. He has won the international James Joyce Foundation Suspended Sentence Award (2004) and the National Shoalhaven/Artsrush Prize for Poetry. His verse novel, A Break in the Weather was short-listed for the FAW Christina Stead Award. Growing Up with Mr Menzies was named in Australian Book Review as her poetry book of the year by Morag Fraser. John has co-edited anthologies of short fiction, The Outback Reader, Soft Lounges and published a collection of his travel stories, Travelers' Tales of Old Cuba.




Andy Kissane from NSW has published three books of poetry, Facing the Moon (1993), Every Night They Dance (2000) and
Out to Lunch (2009), shortlisted for the Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry. His novel, Under the Same Sun (2000) was shortlisted for the Vision Australia Audio Book of the Year. Poetry prizes include the Red Earth Poetry Award, the Sydney Writers' Festival Poetry Olympics, the John Shaw Neilson Award, the inaugural Publisher's Cup Cricket Poetry Award and the BTG-Blue Dog Poetry Reviewing prize.
