I had to go back and re-watch the movie, because I had seen it in the theater (being a huge fan of Rob Schneider). I remember laughing my ass off at Jackson's character, but didn't find him particularly "hot", so I do believe that was enough proof to me that he IS indeed a good actor and has excellent comedic timing. Way to go Jackson, Yeeeeeeehaw Dude! :)
