More than 280 people were arrested here in St. Paul Monday, the opening day of the Republican National Convention. Among them were several journalists covering the protests in the streets, including three from Democracy Now!

  • It's almost like the US Govt has given America's police a Promethean (sic) style task which maybe involves a hidden agenda of getting the notoriously loud mouthed archetypal ugly American (Some loud mouths are great) to all put a bra & panties on & get pregnant then quietly sit barefoot in the kitchen & be submissive to all of their feudal lords of the manor in Washington Whitehall &\or Windsor so if it's not working yet how about putting progesterone in their Budweiser & Valium in their Viagra?

  • And we pay their wages

  • lol bitch got put back in the kitchen :)

  • I do not believe in the abolition of government.

The basic principle of the American Revolution and the US Constitution was the taking of power from the government and giving it to the people. 100 years of socialism have reversed this principle.

Here, you see it reversed. People cannot even protest before the ruling class.

  • Judging by your name I take it you imagine a very particular solution to this problem (libertarianism, i.e., the abolition of Government power in most spheres of life). Many people who are not convinced of the philosophical integrity of libertarianism, feel that the Government, as it exists today, should be represented directly by the public it is supposed to represent. Dissolving Government completely would, I think, be a mistake. It's a tool - here being misused.

  • Here's the super-socialist state that Democracy Now has been promoting for many years.

Oh, yea! It's a great idea to centralize a lot of power in the federal government!

Oh, no! All that super centralized power has been taken over by special interests and is now being used against us!

    Who could have predicted this?

Oh, just anybody who has studied history. (Not history as taught by TV or in public schools, but the real history mostly only available today in books.)

  • @gigololounging Having worked with the police in several roles for years, there is no doubt in my mind that it is the power trip.

Danish press got a hold of danish polices radio communication from protests during the climate conference and they were talking a gang going towards another gang. I think its the same with all police.

  • democracy is a mockery of freedom...it is nothing more than the tyranny of the majority over individuals
