Romney said in that interview (the part that people cut out and don't want you to hear): "You want to have a series of things you want to see accomplished in terms of the strength of the Iraqi military and the Iraqi police and the leadership of the Iraqi government."
That's what Romney said needed "timetables". And he's right. That is exactly what you should have. McCain tried to equate Romney's position with Hillary's and other Democrats. McCain is dishonest on this.
Here is the deal. Romney DID call for milestones, benchmarks, goals, etc. And there is no point in setting goals if there is no timetable. What is the alternative? Just an indefinite occupation with no program or motivation to get our troops home.
So, Romney was for "milestones" and benchmarks. Good for him, because that is the correct position to have. You would be a terrible leader if you weren't setting goals for the mission and trying to complete it in a timely manner.
Why is huckabee smiling at McCain at 1:36 while Mitt Romney is talking to him. It is almost a sinister kind of smile......do the two of them have a pack to do everything they can to get rid of Romney ....of course they do or neither of them stand a chance! They both know that Romney is in their way.
a note for ron paul supporters...internet consensus is not an accurate reflection of 'actual' american opinion. stop putting your 2 cents in discussions that in no way pertain to ron paul.
(part 2) "At the end of the day, the president doesn't have an exit plan." Michael Teague, a spokesman for Pryor, said in an interview. "We think [President Bush] should be forced to develop that, and we're happy to see Mitt Romney feels the same way."
Here's what Huckabee was speaking about (part 1): Earlier this year Governor Romney endorsed setting "timetables and milestones" for Iraq policy but called for keeping them private — an approach introduced by Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas. Senator Pryor was so enthused to have Romney's support that his office publicly commended the Massachusetts's Governor, stating (continued...)
