Yeah I saw your vid about Chris Hedges and his book is definately on my 'to get' list. There are a plethora of vids on youtube where he is in discussion, usually about American fascism. Interesting guy.

you are a likable person, but I do, I guess, fundamentally disagree... when religion invades what should be secular space, it is the aggressor, and it should be defended against. dogma is not a belief that can be rationally defended ie. I can rationally defend the urgent need for population control.... as for the "net effect" of religion I am confident my belief that it has been decidedly negative...

I can't accept your depiction of Jesus as being content with the poor being poor - Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

Jesus was the first socialist!!

I take your point about the abuses and atrocities carried out in the name of religion. But that, I would contend, is down to people and the lust for power and the abuse of power.

That's fair enough I suppose but I would say that your position is somewhat parochial (if you'll pardon the expression). The USA seems to be a decidedly odd place from my perspective. I would absolutely support the premise that the church and the state should be seperate; especially considering that most places are multicultural. The state should be secular in nature

Hey man, can I ask you how you became a Christian, if you were first an atheist? Surely, as an atheist, you rejected the bible, and the factuality of most of its contents. What changed your mind? I agree with some of what you said about the Dawkins 'movement' - lots of people get the wrong idea about what he's saying. And Hitchens.. ugh what a despicable man.
