In July of 1978 the Largo (Florida) High School "Band of Gold" competed in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Holland. This field show performance was the last event on the last day of the three week contest. • mr. benoit?....no offence but i havent herd largo go anywere other than the ball game in years...

  • Yes WE worked our tushes off for Mr. C - but remember the Pride and what he was able to pull from our hearts? Remember when our gates opened out to the stands in Valdosta to the swells of Jr's arrangement of Battle Hymn?... The crowd rose to their feet in one synchronized motion....That moment was both profound and precious...my skin still erupts in goosebumps.

  • Gibder1117 I really would love to know how long it's been since you've been to one of our shows. Speaking as a current band of gold '10 member I think you should reconsider your words. We are NOT a knock off in any way shape or form, we've got an excellent director who teaches us very well. Thank you very much.

  • Sadly enough due to budget cuts through the years this band has been reduced down to nothing more than a Salvation Army knock off band. Class of 72 They were the Best!!!!

  • It was absolutely great and still is.

I was there at the stadium. Thanks for the upload.

  • My guess , there was not another band even close. Fabulous!
