Biomass is an organic renewable energy source that includes materials such as agriculture and forest residues, energy crops, and algae. Scientists and engineers at the U.S. Department of Energy and its national laboratories are finding new, more efficient ways to convert biomass into biofuels that can take the place of conventional fuels like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. This edition of Energy 101 shows how biomass is broken down and refined into sustainable biofuels via biochemical and thermochemical processes.

Biofuels are a criminal activity, not a solution.

Biofuels cause slow agricultural suicide through topsoil erosion, water shortages, eventual phosphate shortages, as well as increased air and water pollution and skyrocketing food prices.

For better noncarbon, nontoxic energy alternatives, such as Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR), Google *THE RENEWABLE DISASTER, Christopher Calder* web page.

    1. not all biodiesel gels up, it depends what it's made of.

    2. and who said its $28 a gallon? home brewed biodiesel is 50 cents to a dollar a gallon.

in 1942, the first nuclear reactor was turned on and generated a whopping half a watt of electricity, but costing hundreds of millions of dollars to build and achieve. im sure morons like yourself were up in arms about that too.

They never mentioned CO2 neutrality - didn't wan't to enrage the troglocons by suggesting global warming is real.

This process is too damn expensive and is not practical! Plus, biodiesel doesn't work in cold weather because it gels up! Why are you boneheads investing money this country doesn't have into theses renewable sources?! Why are you morons forcing our Navy ships to use bio fuels that cost $28 a gallon?! The intentions are great, but THESE IDEAS WON'T WORK! Shame on the Department of Energy and President Obama for putting you guys in charge! Stop destroying my country!

It's too bad the video doesn't mention other commodities such as waste cooking oil and animal fats, both highly feedstocks used in the biofuels industry.
