  • @stevenbryantmusic Any tips for horn?

  • @AnarchyAndrew21 Do you mean the opening Horn solo? Make it sing, slowly and smoothly. Savor the sound of each note, and play with the most beautiful, supported, full tone you can possible produce. That's all. :)

  • This piece is absolutely phenomenal. We recently played this at the Indiana State band fest, and the conducter Dr. Francis personally knows Steven Bryant, so he had a slightly better understanding of how it should be played. Fantastic

  • @DJMankiewics Thanks!

  • I love this piece so much. This actually re-inspired me to get back into trying to learn how to compose. Hahaha Would you happen to have any tips? I have the knowledge, but my ideas never flow longer than a phrase or so, and that isn't good for composing a song. I got Finale PrintMusic for Christmas wanting to further my progress and I am considering doing composition as a major. So I guess my main question is how do you keep the idea consistent through out the piece?

  • @DaGuitarSaxMan You're asking one of the central, and most difficult questions about composing. Developing a single idea into a full piece is the challenge, and I wish I could explain some sure-fire method for doing it, but I don't. I do recommend playing with every possible permutation of your initial idea/melody/motive, and imagine all the different ways it could be orchestrated, broken up into rhythmic pieces, transformed by stretching or compressing the intervals, etc.Hope that helps!
