F1 at Laguna Seca would be the best. Laguna Seca beats all other American Racetracks:)

Laguna is a fantastic track, and it's a pit F1 isn't there. Many F1 and motorsport fans don't realise how many challenging and exciting tracks there are in the US like Road America, and Mid-Ohio. As an F1 fan I got the opportunity to watch the entire 1997 CART season over the winter and I thought it was a fantastic combination of tracks and conditions to race in. However I do believe that currently the quality of talent in American open wheel motorsport is not what it once was.

F1 should race either the whole Nordschleife or watkins glen :)

@FRFM00 Come to Watkins Glen :-)
-
@PontoonWorldChampion The housing tracts nearby would sue, literally, because of the noise. They'd have to put mufflers on the cars to make it even remotely possible.

@PrandGrix4 I prefer Watkins Glen, but Laguna aint bad :-)

@TheFeeder I'd agree with most points aside from the "it can accommodate plenty of people" part. Parking is insane even during an ALMS race, forget bike week, there are hardly any grand stands, and the neighboring house tracts already complain a lot about noise from other series's like ALMS and Grand Am. Can you imagine the bitching if F1 showed up for a whole weekend?

They should lengthen the track a bit more for F1. Maybe add a hairpin after turn 4 leading onto a new section, a few twisty bits, then back to the straight onto turn 5.
Also, they should repave and smoothen the track more.
After that, the only issue i see is how 20+ cars would navigate the corkscrew. Certainly a safety issue with the speed of those cars..... i think.

but what a track to have.

Road Atlanta, VIR, Mid Ohio, Infinion, Barber, Miller, HPR....

all US has is Laguna.
every other track looks tired and fucking dilapidated.
its pathetic.
The issues preventing F1 at Laguna were: 1) the original track was too short for FIA rules. This was addressed when the tracked was extended to 2.2 miles. 2) There were no fixed garages. That has also been remedied. and the biggee 3) Ecclestone wanted a huge wad of cash up front to even consider the venue, without assurances that a race would be held there. The area is one of the most picturesque places in the world, and can easily accommodate plenty of people.
