Who's Bill Maher? The Crusades where not defensive. And the crusades where not against the Turkish expansion. The Crusaders waged war against Slavs, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Muslims, Waldensians, Old Prussians and many others. Im sure that every single one of these peoples where an aggressive threat (not true).

I'm sorry, but I would love to know which history books are telling you that the Crusades did not start as an attempt to retake Christian kingdoms in the Holy Land that were taken by force by the invading Turks. Where do you go to school, Iran? That type of ignorance is really troubling.
