You forgot the best part: on the original footage (from I.B) Pride of the nation is subtittled in german when characters speak english, so its a parody of "inglourious basterds" itself. The refusal from US sargeant to destroy tower also mocks the fake objectivity of "historic" war movies. He doesnt want to destroy a building, yet uses a baby as shield, in order for us to understand he's the bad guy
