IMHO, The Grateful Dead deserve being rated in the top 5 bands in rock history and arguably the top 3. No, they weren't The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, but they were special: The Counterculture Band ... absolutely authentic ... always pure ... ever true. They were at "Ground Zero" of The 1960s Counterculture and remained that culture's emmisaries. They never sold out. The loved their fans. They were never greedy. I saw The Dead about 20 times in the 1970s. They're The Real Deal.

funny you should say that, i hitch-hiked from vancouver to vegas to see the dead and santana in 93?i think.canada loves jerry.not sure of the date ,was many years ago.

Song sung blue with passion, I saw Dead with Santana 1988 Tacoma. Was worth the trip from where americans think we all live in igloos as soon as you cross the border. Jerry G Canadians love you always

I just listened to the Jane's Addiction version. I like Jane's Addiction, but it felt like someone was raping my ears listening to that cover...HORRIBLE!

This is from the October, 1980 - Dead Ahead, NYC concert. I knew Gerry was dead, but hadnt realised it has been 10 years since he passed.
