  • "we don't want to try and pull ourselves we want to pop ourselves" - trainer explaining pullups

  • Jason, thank you so much for sharing this. Enjoyed how you broke it down into segments. Also, congrats on doing so well in the 2011 CF Games!

  • Good lesson

  • people need to stop hating on kipping pull ups. both kipping and dead hanging have their place. personally i dont use kipping pull ups in conditioning workouts, i just feel better about myself if i stick with it and grind out dead hangs. I just choose not too kip, thats not to say i think nobody should ever kip. its dealers choice. i do use a lot of these kipping warm up and progression movements as part of my dynamic warm ups though, i find them beneficial for Oly lifts and OVH squats.

  • @ crossfitsc do you purely do crossfit? It's just your carrying a little more muscle than what most can achieve purely from crossfit? Cross fitters generally seem leaner. Just interested as I'm making the switch from body building

  • Very helpful, thank you.

  • How come whenever there's a video with a kipping pull-up in it, some ignorant yo-yo calls it a cheater pull-up? For consistency, these people should also post comments on videos of push jerks or push presses, "he's cheating because he's using his legs!" They are different movements, people. Get some education.

Good progression, by the way, Jason. I liked the touch the belly/back part.

  • @hooksashands You're right. It is more of a full body movement and requires you to keep your midline straight, which takes a lot more mouscles besides your lats. So basically, you are sacrificing more lat workout in order to burn more calories/get more muscles involved. Dead hang pullups are a better strength exercise.
