I started with grave's disease 10 years ago. RAI-131 8 years ago and I have had hypothyoridism for 8 years. I understand completely! I had my blood checked on monday dr called today and told me it looks good. My legs, feet, hands and arms are numb, cramping, and heavy feeling. Lastnight as I sat watching tv my lips and face went numb and nobody listens.

Your accent is coming in and out. :D I was recently diagnosed, I did a thyroid scan + Uptake and blood work...Hospital said I have Graves and the blood test came back normal, took another blood test came back that my thyroid was low :D Doctor said I'm fluxuating but I'm not gaining weight, I'm losing it and I do cardio and work out. I do have a little neck pain at times and body parts feel like they fall asleep, and my blood pressure is normal then high the next week, Doc said no treatment yet.

The anti-inflammatory is making you paranoid and causing your heart to race, and feel like a heart attact, you might even get one if you stay on it...it WILL scar your heart and frigg your stomach up...I took Vioxx then Bextra, ibuprofen you name it, caused me gastol probs which I cured with apple cider vinegar...! Turmeric - curcumin is one of the best anti-inflammatory's around, with NO side affects, maby weight loss, I use a little Ginger also...Google it...!

I hear you about your frustration. I hope your doctor is willing to experiment with medications and dosage levels to find what works with minimal side effects.
I've no experience with thyroid but I understand that once you get the levels settled down, appetite and metabolism will settle too.

If your hear is racing that much, maybe you need a lower dose?

The medicine shouldn't be making you feel that way - it sounds like you are going into the hypER zone.
I know EXACTLY how you feel about the weight gain. I went through the same thing over the last two years. The good news is that there is hope! I've been able to lose almost 15 lbs since June and that is the most I have been able to lose since I was diagnosed. Talk to your dr about Armour.

thanks dear that is very helpful
Hun, once you get the medication straightened out and get the hyperthyroidism under control the weight WILL fall off....its just a sucky time while your body gets use to it. You will make it!!!

Like everyone else has said already, sometimes it's okay to take a break and focus on what's wrong at that moment.
Once that's taken care of, you will get back on track as far as weight loss. Just try to make sure you're eating well, getting enough sleep, and doing your best to relax. It's important to treat yourself especially well in times of stress like this.
