Wow. Maybe I'm naive, but I'm surprised just how much they showed for a family show in 1980. That is, showing bongs, joints, actually depicting her smoking it and (this really surprised me) offering it to Tootie! Even Maude didn't go that far.

Now when I see Season 1, I realize what bad actresses Julie Piekarski, Julie Ann Haddock and Molly Ringwald were. Felice Schachter was a bit better. Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn improved over time. Lisa Whelchel was the most talented. I suppose that's why Lisa, Kim and Mindy stayed while the others got canned for the Season 2 reworking.

I remember all that anti drug b.s. in the 80's here in Spain they did not realy have it but I lived in the UK in the 80's and it was just like America with the anti drug stuff. All it did was make kids want to do it more.
