bayfresh09 though I'm sure you found a spot by now, if you haven't start the GPS and get to the cockpit view. Click the Satellite icon and it will bring you to a information screen showing you the connections to the satellites in the sky and how strong those connections are. You can then move the antenna around especially to areas you may want it and see how the signal is. Of course if you hide it its gonna lower the signal strength. The magnet on the gps receiver is genius!

From ppl talking about problems with this system I guess I the good of the batch! I have it installed in my 82 s10 and I love it! I was wanting a GPS system with my radio system too. I actually like the design of using a single din. GPS is very accurate aswell. My only gripe would have to be that its only a 2 band equalizer. I gotta have mid cause music just doesn't sound good without it on my speakers! Oh well i'm programming a fix right now as it runs on Windows CE.

would this fit in an 99 lexus es 300. from the reviews should i even attempt to buy this?

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I took it back after problem after problem. If something doesn't break, the terrible design will have you fumbling through awful menus and features everyday.

Either on your dash (ugly) or run the cable out your door and the magnet inside will keep it on your roof.

My experience with this unit is so different than most of these. I installed it in a 2004 Jeep Rubicon seven months ago and am very happy with it. GPS accuracy is much better than my Garmin 2620 and speech diction is excellent. Mine has the time zone issue since I haven't upgraded it, but no other quality issues. The motorized touchscreen has a good solid feel to it and operates smoothly. The radio it replaced had a great deal of hissing and buzzing noises but not the VR3...the sound is great!

Consider yourself lucky, although you're luck could run out soon. As the comments suggests, they work ok for a while, then junk out.
