magnetic pick-ups respond better to the greater mass(metal) in heavy strings for that over-D tone "More mass" not wimpy = More Ballz in my way of thinking

Would I be a weak and total tool, if I asked for.... (watch out) ......tabs??? ha
I am soft I know. But... I just see better with.... well my eyes. I am a newb, so I am over my head trying to play SRV. But I figure. If I am going to eat, I want filet Mignon. If I am going to like women, I want Megan Fox, (or whoever you like) if I am going to like guitar, I like SRV!!!! I guess I could get software :(

omg huge strings are those 12s or 13s

11-48 are not huge for Blues playing. Mine are 11-48 or 50 and feel good to do bends. When I went down to 10's they felt ok. When my EB John Petrucci JP-6 arrived it had EB 9's on it stock. I felt like I could bend it all the way to the low E. LOL 9's are good for Metal I guess but not Blues. Not as good a Tone out of them. Talk about thick, my Martin HD-28 came with Martin Coated 13's for the High E. now that will build up your finger strength on an acoustic guitar. Makes my 11's feel light.

@gr8bluesgtr Try DR. Pure Blues strings...you'll think you have deid and gone to string heaven...try thr 10's, less work for the same tone and they don't seem to break...just sing!

A minor third is an interval, which is comprised by two notes, the number of whole/half steps (or frets) between the two notes determines which interval it is. A minor third is A to C and the like.
What does it mean when someone is saying a minor third.?
FenderStratoccaster 2 years ago
It is the third note in the minor scale, one half step below the third note in the major scale.

If you are playing in standard tuning you are still playing in g flat, just from a different position....if you play it in the same position as the dude playing with a guitar tuned down a half step you will be playing in g....if you are in standard tuning, back it up to the second fret.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Which strings are you using?
VictorAldecoa 4 years ago
Right now I'm using GHS Boomers, not thrilled about them, actually looking to try other strings. My gauges run from 11 to 48 or something like that.
