A true working dog should not be tied in the yard or taught to tackle small children. This behavior is called acting out. Probaly from being tied to a stake. He will do anything to get his owners attention and the owner here is rewarding this type of behavior with attention. I just feel sorry for this dog being tied to the yard. Its a shame.

@sacalaitman The problem with this is...This is making the dog think that using its hearding/biting instinct is okay weither or not he bite or not. It is not okay for a dog to tackle a little kid weither or not the kid thinks its funny or not. When my ACD is around kids its calm or the "fun kid time" is ended and she goes out of the room! But my dog would never dream of doing this as she knows that she wouldnt be allowed to play ball with the kids.

Slight over reaction,but like all animals dogs are unpredictable unless exceptionally trained.Blue heelers do have a strong prey instinct and love to herd.The more fuss the 'herdee' kicks up and the faster they move away,the more excited the dog gets.I had this problem with our chooks which usually ended with the birds throat torn out.Poor handling by myself.This doesn't necessarily mean the dog will do this to a child,especially if it acknowledges that the child belongs to the pack.My opinion.
