Sup stoners. It's been a while since I've posted anything here. Figure this might warrant your interest. I wanted to try to choreograph a short fight for action cinematography/choreography purposes. I recently just got my new camera that I can make some quality films from, as some of the stoners on these boards might know.

It took around an hour and a half using non-actors and non-fighters. We didn't have a storyline or plot, we simply started a fight and developed whatever happened from that point on. The lighting was not very good due to the location, but the whole purpose of this fight was simply for fun and to test camera angles and cutting, etc.

A bit of background on this subject. I had to teach my actors how to use the "impact line". This is an invisible line from the camera to the subject and it is key in having people react to punches, realisticly, for the camera. They managed to get the hang of it for the most part and the majority of the fight seems like it worked out. There is one part that bugs me a little bit, but due to lack of time and battery restraints, I wasn't able to reshoot it.
I'll give bonus cookies to anyone that can find the "iffy" part.

Regarding the sound effects, yes they are definately generic, but they do the job well enough. This took project took around 2 hours to edit using Adobe Premiere Pro, and I plan on making another fight scene in the daytime with excellent camera work sometime soon.

I'd love any comments or feedback. Please remember, this was simply a first test to see if I could film it properly. Let me know what you think.

  • i thought the fight scene was pretty good.... the direction was good too... the only thing i would say is work on the editing... but other than that great!

  • Personally, I think it needed better direction. And I was the director. Editing had problems because while directing I didn't have the foresight to see some of the issues, it was my first time. Editing it sure showed all the flaws though, but it came together half decently with some crafty Premiere Pro work.

  • This is why your women fakes it .

  • Real deep, real smart. Congratulations, you made yourself look pretty cool.

  • I would put the iffy part at the shot to the head as well as the wide arcing punches. Iam am martial artists and before that used to get into school fights alot. The punches are usually kept close in due to the ammount of force that is lost by curving in. Also the shot to the head was probably set up with a 9mm and was without a blood spray taking away from the realness of most of the film.

  • It depends on where the camera is in relation to the people on how the punches can be done. It was my first day trying to see if I could at least make the punches connect. More realism in the actual combat itself will have to come later.

  • That was cool. I wanted to try to do something like this. I was looking to write it out then start shooting. I was thinking more of an action/suspense short. Something that might lead the watcher to beleive they are running after something or from something.

  • and thats the stupidest comment I've ever read

    it's a fake film? lol

hard to find good really videos? speak english motherfucker

  • Editing eh? I thought the editing was pretty good for what footage we had, besides the ballsack. Thanks man, glad you liked it. :-)

  • Editing. Lighting. But still good.

  • I couldn't see well cuz of the lighting but the fight definitely looked real. Good sound effects also.
