The chi square test for goodness of fit can be used to perform a hypothesis test about the distribution of a qualitative (categorical) variable or a discrete quantitative variable having only finite possible values. It analyzes whether the observed frequency distribution of a categorical or nominal variable is consistent with the expected frequency distribution. This tutorial demonstrates how to weight cases.
