  • Looks like fun, I'm getting ready to restore a 30foot Newport. Does anyone know how to tell if the boat has bad core rot? I'm kinda worried about this considering the Newport has been neglected for some time now and it always been docked in a slip.

  • If you are worried about core rot then you have soft spots? There are several methods of repair. Of course how far away is your boat, how are you at learning new skills. My boat is next to my home in the mountians.....much easier to work on.

  • I'm going to be living on it for at least 4 months. I'm really good at learning new skills.

  • Online searching, Yahoo groups I have learned a lot form the Bristol, NorSea, ComPac, Bayfield groups.

  • Older boats are better!

  • Real slow summer for me when it came to the Bristol. I have epoxy filled the original hardware holes. Closer to deck painting. BP
