Because they are a set, an orchestra, they play so well actually that the harmony is unmistakable. The piece is written to put focus on the vocals, just that. They still have balls though, imagine it, if just one fails he will ruin it for the others. Given that I'm sorry if you are a supra human musician and can give us heartbreaking performances on national tv with the talent of a thousand angels without breaking a sweat, good for you nonetheless.

In that case why has nobody said "it takes one of the string players balls to do that" hm?

I'm also a musician myself and I think it takes balls. I don't ever not get nervous before I go onstage. Granted, they've paid to see this guy play but that doesn't automatically mean he's going to do a good job. You saying you've never seen someone perform badly? Also just because he didn't write the song doesn't mean it doesn't affect him emotionally and to make a song convincing and sound like you mean it, you have to channel some of that emotion back into the song otherwise it WILL be crap.

It's not letting your emotions show lol. It's letting the writer's emotions show. He's performing someone else's emotions, not his emotions.

I'm a musician myself and I can't say it takes balls. There's a couple of million musicians out there and jeez, what's gonna happen? They've paid to see this guy knowing he's gonna be singing it, why should it take balls?! There's not the remote chance they're gonna mock him for it.
