This is a earthquake simulation of a suspension bridge produced by my physics engine.

  • Uh, seriously that is a bit scary for we who LIVE IN the SF-Oakland community. Is that really what can happen? How strong would the Earthquake have to be?

  • @gdj064 Hi, I used to live in the Bay Area, too. I made this video to demonstrate the capabilities of my physics engine. The materials used for the bridge are a lot softer than real steel and the earthquake applied is significantly stronger than any real earthquake could ever be. However as you might know the bay bridge is currently rebuilt because it is not earthquake proof and the GG bridge is getting retrofitted right now because it was determined that it would not survive a major earthquake.

  • dare you to walk on this.

  • There is no way that the weight of the roadway could cause the towers to pull back and bend like that. Even the Tacoma Narrows bridge didn't do this (much less a bridge with tower beams of this thickness).

  • Mmmmmm jelly bridge.

  • can i eat that? is that jello?

  • mmmm now i want to eat jello

  • El puente se movio, pero no colapsó ¬¬
