This is a Turnbull Traction Relay Controlled elevator from the early 1960's at the Chrysler Hall North Building at the University of Windsor. There is certainly something wrong when after its done levelling like normal, it decides to go a bit crazy and move up, and down and up and down for no good reason, on each movement you can hear the relays as well, so must be something wrong.

  • I think is something problem elevator system installed has error or fail. Elevator needs report to fix-it & re-installed properly is make more works. Then will elevator testing safety to up to level floors of rows and down, then will restore as normal. Or elevator needs upgraded with renew ones better than death trip elevator. You’re lucky might be get scary that elevator!

  • Up, down, up, down.....

I forgot to record the way-off "classic leveling" I found on a Haughton. It does level, but the doors open uo 6" from the floor, and creeps to floor level.

  • Now that's a classic.

  • Yes, this is a nice elevator indeed.

  • Wow what a nice antique. Love the fixtures and the fact you were able to catch the leveling problem. I have added you to my subscriptions.
