A sponsored abseil for the Bell Restoration Fund. It's been 150 years since the Bells st St. Mary's Parish Church, Walton-on-Thames last had some serious work. There's much to be done: a repairs to a crack, new headstock, gudgeons, pulleys, ropes. To say nothing of replacing the 150year old oak frame with a modern steel affair. And the clock's being cleaned and the wider mechanism replaced at the same time.
All this costs bucket loads of dosh and this sponsored abseil was just one of many ways funds are being raised.
This is just brief glimpse at what happened. It is not a film about abseilling. It is not a documentary about the project. It's just a look at a local event and a few of the people who had a go.
brilliant idea!!!
