Bernie is a 2.5 year old pembroke welsh corgi. She tolerates paw touching but would prefer to do things herself so I decided to teach her how to file her own nails to save us both stress.
Using a technique called shaping through clicker training Bernie learns how to scratch the doggie nail file board I made for her. This was our first session and she made tremendous progress.
**Note: My Clicker+ changed sound types partway through the shaping session. This was not purposeful. I continued the rest of the session with the click. Bernie knows both sounds as bridging devices so it didn't bother her.
Nice job!

Thanks! It was fun for both of us.

It is strips of stair tread on a piece of plywood. I elevated the plywood using another small piece of wood but it looks like my dog would prefer it to be a flat board.
When I did my research they said regular adhesive on sandpaper isn't strong enough to withstand doggie scratching so you have to use something better like stair tread.
