Description
Authentic, hand-made Japanese waraji sandals. These small waraji were probably made to fit the feet of a small child (please see size information below). Straw sandals such as these were once a very common and convenient form of footwear in Japan, being lightweight and easily replaced when worn out. This particular pair of waraji are less than 40 years old and are in good condition though they are a bit dry and darkened with age. Though they could probably be worn we recommend these waraji as a decorative item, bringing an authentic touch of old Japan to any setting.

It does make a difference. Waraji were for long distances and running, and were tied to the foot to keep it secure and improve the wearer's ability to move quickly without loosing a shoe. Zori, what he's got there, are for short distances or walking. Like the differences in sneakers and flip-flops-you aren't going for a jog in the latter.
