I love the dramatic close-ups. XD

@FluffTheArtist Yes. I think another way to see it could be as the Western elements being "Hinduized". Like, the blues songs, which are used so well here, are done with a real 1920s Betty Boop style animation, but the Betty Boop cartoon style has been thoroughly, errr, infiltrated with Indian elements. It's a beautiful and beautifully done synthesis, and i would argue that the creative spirit of the synthesis is very much in the spirit of the Hindu spirit itself. :)

1:17 Woman demon WHATEVER!

I'm culture shocked. 2:47 I understand it's an old patriarchal society, but to the point where a woman needs her husband's permission to protect herself and her chastity for that very husband? That's just stupid. This is just hyperbole, right?

Love the overly dramatic zooms at 1:47

LOL!!! I don't know if anyone got this..but the part where sita is saying she'll never leave lord rama, and they zoom in on ravana's face with dramatic music several times is reminiscent of the shows in india, where they use close-ups with dramatic music quite freely.. this is fo funny

Yeah, blow that clarinet, Sita. That will get Rama over to save you toot sweet.

she is interpreting the story through the prism of her failed relationship. After she broke up with her indifferent boyfriend the she identified with Sitas' trials with Rama.that's why blues songs about weeping over a man and men being mean. I think this a very creative piece of work I love all the different styles of animation

It's a story from the Hindu Religion, yes. But, it's being presented by a woman, who's simply re-telling the story in a different way. Yes, it may be a bit westernized, but it's also an artistic way to express a story, most of us wouldn't take the time to read, or understand. Try to think of it that way. :)
