@RelVleDy It is in the game because the game is about a haunted video game. The 8-bit RPG graphics are there to let you know you are playing the game in the game. They actually are important to the game though. No spoilers here, but if you want them, watch GhostCarLP's Let's Play. There are 36-37 videos and the game is really interesting.

@Cazxiro Yea, but I have to worry if there's some freaky exception the ESRB has against death threats. If the game is seriously making a death threat - no matter how silly - then that might even extend beyond a mature rating.

I still don't even know if the game does make the death threat though. No one answered the question :). Just comes to show how little we know about the game. Oh well, it doesn't matter. With the Nintendo 3DS, this game wont see the light of day, unfortunately.
