Now pry up on the brass stem while, using the point where your plier tips rest on the valve body as a fulcrum.. This gives you a lot of leverage without stressing the faucet. Once you get the cartridge unstuck it will come out pretty easily.

Ditto to TheOldkid888 . Just place the little plastic tool over the brass stem and get it seated between the notches, then turn it with your channel locks. That will unstick the cartridge and you should then be able to remove it. If for some reason you don't have the tool, try the following:

pull the center brass stem all the way up, adjust your pliers so you can grab the brass stem while resting the tips of the plier jaws on the valve body (the part the cartridge goes into). Con't next

@mstplumber i have a issue white calcium deposits on my shower knobs and they get stuck ..right now i cant turn the hot knob? and it leaks threw the knob but no water flows threw the shower head ?

Some have complained, but I have a single handle Moen faucet, and this is EXACTLY what I needed to do the job right. I had some problems reseating the new cartridge, but watching this gave me the assurance to move forward with a little more force. I would have never operated the handle and determined if I had it facing the correct direction without seeing this video first. I appreciate the information. Please keep providing it. There are a lot weekend warriors out here that need the help.

MOE does a great job of replacing parts for free, but did not give me an instruction on how to replace it. You saved me a ton of money by showing me how to remove the old 1225B part. If not for the video, I would have never figured it out. Thanks a bunch...-AR
