I'm making a shield building for the engineer in team fortress 2 This is the first run through. Took less than a day of work. Shield will replace the dispenser.

Description of the shield:
-Replaces dispenser
-All enemy projectiles that hit the shield are reflected off in a random direction.
Projectiles dont change owner. Each projectile that hits the shield subtracts 25 energy from the shield.
-non/projectile weapons are not affected by the shield.
-all friendly projectile weapons are negated at not energy cost. Sentry rockets are not negated.
-All explosions outside the shield do not harm whatever is inside however each explosion takes off damage/3 energy.
-If all energy is depleted shield shuts down until energy is fully restored.
-energy is shown on engineer hud.
-takes about 10 seconds to fully recharge sheild.

  • Seems like a great idea. Is it upgradeable? How's the metal cost? Can enemies enter inside the shield, then fire?

  • @wtfwhoisthat yes,100 for building 200 for upgrade, and yes. My current plan is to release 2 more video's of it, One with all 3 levels, and a final one with the building textured and detailed.

  • I think some one (valve) is gonna steal youre idee.

  • @olofier I would hope, The sheild idea is to fix a problem about projectile weapons having an overwhelming advantage over engineers. My intention is to submit this to valve once I finish. so no worries.

  • @BitterBurst Yeah, valve beat me to the punch with the wrangler. It solved all the problems the shield was for.

  • looks nice

  • @ZeroRogue An interesting idea indeed. It wouldn't surprise me if this gets some major attention. Great planning and rendering, so far. Can't wait to see/use it in its final stages.

  • I think the radius of the shield should be larger, but all in all, very good idea and animation.

  • @ZeroRogue that's a good plan. this could really help out when a team is getting steamrolled by ubers

  • looks good
