The Silenced SMG is a new weapon in Halo 3: ODST. It is one of the main weapons you will use in that game like the Assault Rifle in Halo 3. However, it is not actually a new weapon. The Silenced SMG already exists in Halo 2. It can be found on a map hidden in Halo 2's Map Editor Files. The map is called "Example". This can only be found on the PC version of Halo 2 (Halo 2 Vista). So unfortunately, if you do not have Halo 2 PC and Windows Vista, you will not be able to use the Silenced SMG until Halo 3: ODST comes out. If you do not know how to get the "Example" map from the Halo 2 Map Editor files, you can download it from this link:

http://h2v.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=...

Download it and extract it from the zip folder. You will probably need Internet Explorer to download it. The map is named Yoda for some reason, but don't worry, it should still be the Example map. Enjoy!

If you want more proof. Watch this video:

It's the official Halo 2 PC Trailer. Skip to about 0:50 in that video and you will clearly see the Example Map being made.
