  • BERKELEY PUBLIC SCHOOL IS A SHIT HOLE!!!! I WENT THERE AND THEIR PRICIPAL JAN HAGAN IS A FAT BITCH, WHO DOESNT LET ANYONE DO WAT THEY WANT, SHE MADE THE SCHOOL SHIT WHEN SHE CAME, DO NOT LET UR KIDS ATTEND THIS SCHOOL, UNLESS U WANT THEM TO BE UNHAPPY

  • I started at LeConte in 1967 and graduated from Berkeley High in 1978 (and my story is in the "Jenny" video). Carol Sibley's story as told by Gabrielle offers a marvelous encapsulation of the history from Sibley's "inside" POV. The grade reconfiguration (K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9, 10-12) was a key element of desegregation; I want to point out that the "Ramsey plan" was the brainchild of one of my BHS English teachers, Miss [sic] Geraldine Ramsey, a proud Radcliffe graduate with a thick Boston accent.

  • But I am pleased that I attended integrated schools. I had been lucky to attend Jefferson, which given its location was fairly integrated to begin with. Thank you to Carol Sibly and all the School Board Members who had the courage to implement this policy.

  • The for 4th grade we lived in Kansas City, but when we returned (to the house next door), I attended Oxford for 5th and 6th grade. Then, King Jr. High for 7th and 8th, followed by West Campus for 9th, and finally BHS for 10-12. I think other than military kids, I probably have the record on most number of schools attended in K-12: Eight!

  • I was in 3rd grade the first year of integration. I had been attending Jefferson for K-2 (we had lived next to it, but were allowed to continue attending even though we had moved to "Grove" Street and were out of the Jefferson neighborhood). With integration I was transferred to my official school, Oxford (no exceptions were made when integration was instituted, so I could not stay at Jefferson).
