Mexborough, Rotherham!??! :-)
When I was a young man, my dads record collection used to annoy a little, but this song...This really stood out! I've been trying to work it into a talking blues I can do in the pub session (Fagans, Sheffield) but had little success yet!
My dad went down the mines when he was 15, that would be about 1943?
I used to be 'metal', then 'greebo', these days, a lot more country!
Love this song! :-)
