This stuff is really cool. It works with liquid crystals... when there is no voltage applied the crystals are aligned randomly and make the glass not see thru. Now add a voltage and all the crystals line up and you can see thru the glass! It costs about $50 and up per square foot.

@bloodaid I found the solution.....Electrochromic glass. Those go from trasparent to dark trasparent. I discovered it from the windows of the boeing 787.

@RobertsDigital yes, think of one big LCD screen with one humungus pixel overing the whole glass!

OH WOW, where can I buy that? I need some 11ft by 5ft pieces to go in a double glazed unit, with the possibility of selling thousands of them. I have been waiting a long time for this, we don't have anything like it here in the UK.

@Salieri325 Actually the car tuner mansory installed it in a rolls royce phantom - though they said if the battery mailfunctions, you cant see through the window anymore :D

My question is if there is a technology that can can turn trasparent glass into dark trasparent or complete black glass with the press of a button using the smart glass technology

I'm just an architecture student, so I don't know if they have different colors that it can change to (a darker tint), but I do know that there is a version that has adjustable opacity like a dimmer for a light, so you can adjust it.
