This song gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it.
It is absolutely stunning.
The orchestra is just so beautiful, and the lyrics are so true.
I loved singing it.

I was an alto two for this. We were so beastin'. This was one of the most amazing songs I ever sang at all state ^___^ I'm pretty sure I teared up a little during the concert.

Haha I'm in WV Allstate Middle School Chorus,and we're doing this! :D I think it's a bit of a different arrangement. I don't know if I can get a recording or not, sorry. :D But it's a GREAT SONG!

@mollypie10 I have just realised my mistake, only the first verse is Arthur O'Shaughnessy, the rest is original. My apologies. But it is still based on his poem. Still a good job by the choir though.

I don't know who Patti Drennan is but this was written by Arthur O'Shaughnessy. This poem has been set to music several times, including Edward Elgar, who quotes several earlier works.This is nice but a little too sacharine coated for my taste. Elgar's version is a much bigger challenge (I am biased here, I sang that at 12 as a treble). Here is a taste from the solo watch?v=-alXWpDop9I&feature=re­lated. I did this song. Twas a bit faster and had guys. We did fantasic considering we only have 8 men all together and 6 second sopranos. XD I am one of those second sopranos in my chorale.

this was really slow! D: our choir is singing this and its so much faster, but we havent practiced with the orchestra. so it might change. BUT this wa really beautiful. you couldnt really hear the alto 2s tho :c
