What is wrong with your comments! Such a beautiful voice from Renee and such a beautiful song from Lou. Just look at them and notice that they are both having a good time- not laughing at each other but rather in awe of each other (partcularly Lou whom you can see move his lips to "wow". From an artists's point of view nothing could be more truthful to expression. Why must we be so conflictive?
Lighten up elitists! The song has a beautiful melody and Renee was having fun and really singing soulfully. The audience liked it too. I doubt they were hypnotized into liking it by Lou Reed's cool persona.
Of course all that wild applause was for Lou Reed right?? The tune was picked because he performed it with Pavarotti - another artist "making a fool of himself". I like Lou Reed but Renee Fleming's pantyhose has more talent than he does.
What, no points at all for enthusiasm and risk taking? Granted, good taste is important, but it's not all that's important.
You're with Albright, who seems to be devoutly wishing she were elsewhere. I'm with Havel, who looks like he'll cut some slack to artists willing to take a chance of making fools of themselves. He may even have been the one who requested the tune.

Awful, ludicrous, self-indulgent, soul-less, pointless.

Po-faced, self-important, humourless, unnecessary

Unnecessary, confusing, sloppy, nonsensical, poorly executed, ridiculous.

Nemáte i We Shall Overcome s Joan Baez? Byl bych za to velmi vděčný.
