Delegate Jeion A. Ward speaks in favor of the HPV vaccine

Delegate Jeion A. Ward (D-92) makes a floor speech in opposition to HB 1419, which would eliminate the requirement that girls receive the first of three doses for the HPV vaccine prior to entering the sixth grade.

Delegate Ward sponsored the original bill in 2007 that mandated vaccinations for HPV start prior to entering the sixth grade. The HPV vaccine has been proven to protect women against the strains of HPV that cause cervical and other cancers.
