Watch as the kids short out the motherboard because the RAM was put in the wrong way!
Day 2 of 3.
April 30th, 2011.
We divided the class in teams of 6 and gave them their "Mission": Work together to disassemble (and then, reassemble) a list of components (memory, cd drive, power supply, CMOS battery, etc...). The first one to raise their hand, and be approved by a referee wins a prize.
Watch how they work together and are totally in to it.

The Boys & Girls Club approached Loaves, Fishes & Computers to teach 12 of their kids, ages 9-16, on how to refurbish a computer. We happily agreed to invite the kids to our shop for three weekends a row, gratis.
From removing RAM, to replacing a hard drive, to testing a power supply, to blowing out the dust from a computer, to loading their Operating System, to removing a virus, to having a computer disassembly and reassembly competition with prizes, these guys and girls did it all; and they learned QUICK!
And when the classes were over, the kids got to walk away with the complete computer system THEY refurbished, for free, with the operating system on a cd.
