@TD0038 The Schmeisser / Bergmann company did exist at one point, but has since disbanded. They were responsible for the design and production of the Bergmann Sub-machine gun. Not the Mp40/Mp38.

@mpeh4teh Schmeisser had nothing to do with the design, development, or construction of the MP40. He did have patenting on the magazine design that was used for the Mp40, which is why some Mp38/40 magazines have "Schmeisser" stamped on them. This lead many US/Allied soldiers who captured these weapons to refer to them as incorrectly as "Schmeissers".

Uhm...You seem to have mis-titled this video. The weapon you are firing here, is a German Mp40 Submachine gun. Schmeisser had no patent on the weapon itself, only the magazine. And the weapon is most definatley NOT a Heckler and Koch product. They do may a UMP40, but not the Mp40. That was manufactured during WW2, and for a short period afterwards. Please correct your title.

But H&K still did not design the MP40.

@mpeh4teh I don't think that Schmeisser had anything to do with the manufacture of the gun it's a common mistake, I believe it was Haenel? H&K were former Mauser designers and set up HK after the war
