It is a CSX train leaving Lansdale PA heading south on the SEPTA Main Line (former Reading Railroad Bethlehem to Philadelphia Main Line)

I helped CSX Police regarding the May 1 2002 incident and in appreciation, they offered me a cab ride.

Dont you realize that their are HUNDREDS of thousands of pounds on that train? Its not like you can just put it full throttle and expect to go from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds...

If you didnt know, all of those couplers are "cushioned". They have play in them, they can go in and out of their mountings a little bit. This means that the front of the train will move about 150 or so feet before the last car on the train starts to move. All of that slack can break a coupler on the last cars.

This reminds me, I recently helped CSX out by catching a rail terrorist in the act stealing equipment! Sadly I was restricted from ever telling anyone what I got as a thank you gift. Oh Well. Good job!

I am fully aware of what a "ton" is and I can do the math and convert the weight to pounds.

However, unlike yourself, I also know that even an empty railcar weighs far more than 20 tons.

If you were somewhat intelligent, ''tons'' is a measure of weight. Each ton is 2000 pounds. and 20 tons is 40000 pounds... and trains weight even more.
