Kisangani diary (2/4)

Este documental resume en impresionantes imágenes la situación de los refugiados hutus ruandeses, diseminados por las zonas selváticas del Zaire. Más de 800.000 personas estuvieron perdidas durante tres años, sin que las organizaciones humanitarias tuvieran acceso a la zona. El documental muestra el primer tren que llegó a esta región africana, el 27 de marzo de 1997, compuesto de cooperantes, un equipo de TV, la Cruz Roja del Zaire, en el que se encontró campamentos destruídos, niños moribundos, escasez de medicamentos, de agua y de alimentos. En definitiva, una gran hambruna. las cámaras de "Kisangany Diary" visitan varios campamentos de refugiados (Ubundo, Ubila, Kasese...). En éste último, la Unicef recogió 2.500 niños que estaban solos.

Lo que registra es doloroso: niños con la piel pegada a los huesos, desesperanza, no futuro, gusanos, cadáveres. Esas son las postales de su Kisangani Diary, que dura 45 minutos y arranca con su voz en off explicando: Este es un documental sobre gente que huye, es una cuenta del uno al diez, para cuando lo veas, la mayoría de los que salieron aquí habrán muerto. En esta obra el director de La Pesadilla de Darwin ya demostraba su capacidad (su tino y buen pulso) para grabar la miseria sin ser miserabilista, captar la tragedia evitando el amarillismo, acercarse al Otro sin juzgarlo o manipularlo, y para hacer visibles a los que Occidente considera invisibles.

I was too young to understand why we were suffering this way but now I am old enough to understand. keeping hatred in my heart is not a solution to a better future world but keeping forgiveness is. God knows why it did happen and why those of us still survived. we miss our beloved ones who couldnt make it to this especially most of my age-mates....
