  • sorry Daniel, just saw your q 5months late:

The entire 62 ft assembly is put together piecemeal ie sections are bolted together.

Being a mechanical engineer, I use leverage and pulleys/winches whenever possible.... very little brute force or lifting

The only assistance I had was my wife

A buddy of mine made his entirely of pipe, where I got the idea from:

his is 65ft with pivot at 20ft.

  • I scavenge a lot and get donations and shop at the metal salvage yard. Total investment in what you see is only a few hundred $.

Free tower, a load of steel bought at $0.03/#, about 500# of lead counterbalance (donated ) and three winches off eBay at $20 each ...about $75 in cable hardware (turnbuckles, thimbles, wire clamps, etc) and $100 in coils of 1/4" cable,

couple bags of cement + gravel+ sand, buddy donated his time w/Kabota to dig foundation holes .

    have more info online

  • How tall and heavy can they be before you need a helicopter to put them together?
