A Sports Night Kinetic Typography

This is one of my favorite monologues from scripted television and it's dedicated to talented people everywhere.

The monologue is performed by William H. Macy in episode 2-03 of Sports Night.

I know the animation isn't perfect, but this damn thing has been months in the making and I'm glad to finally put it bed.

  • By the way, I still love this.

  • @rendereduselesspro Me, too. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

  • Nice job! That must have taken a long time!

  • It took so long, that if I never see a kinetic typography again, I'd be a happy person. Only not. WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT PROJECT?!

  • @krumbine haha I swore them off after my first one.. Until you made me do another one... Then I swore them off again.. They are seriously time-consuming.

  • I'm just utterly enamored with them. I find them beautiful pieces of visual art. My next one is a promo for my Zaphod Zombie novel .... AND WILL ONLY BE 60-90 SECONDS. That's the rough part, when the audio is too long.

  • @krumbine Yeah I think they're amazing when finished but man it is seriously under-appreciated... That SJBZ one I did was 172 words! That was like a minute a word! Fuck! Have you seen the seriously complex 3D animated ones? With individual transitions for letters? I can't begin to fathom the effort that required.

  • I can see why you'd like this rant. You see yerself as a bit of a Philo Farnsworth? Is he IN you?

  • Well it is, after all, a series of tubes.

  • @krumbine Yeah, figures....gotta follow the waveform, just when I had mastered audio scrub syncing! LOL!
