So many houses in this country have stupid looking, nailed-on plastic shutters that have no hope of doing anything useful. So, at least in hurricane zones, wouldn't it make sense to put up real hinged shutters that are strong enough to resist projectiles and look good enough to leave on (though open) year-round? They would be less of a hassle than rushing around to bolt on panels while a hurricane is on the way.
The how to above isn't bad but leaves allot unsaid.

A Shutter is only as strong, as how strong the shutter is installed. Wood frame homes are the hardest to install and U must find the structure wood framing inside the wall to attach to first. To find the wood framing around the opening is a chapter by itself and need more space then allowed on this forum. If need help, call 786-281-7054.
